Timber stocks as we go into 2021

We all had hoped as we moved into 2021, we would be able to say goodbye to the Coronavirus Pandemic and some normality would resume. However, we find ourselves in the middle of another national lockdown!
At Park Timber we are remaining open for collections or deliveries, customers can order online or over the phone where our knowledgeable sales team will be able to help.

During 2020 the timber supply chain was affected due to two main factors:
- Covid-19
- Change in market dynamics
In early 2020 when Covid-19 hit Europe many of the European sawmills saw temporary closures during lockdown, this was the opposite to how the market went as customers were stuck at home and there was a surge in demand in the UK and Europe for timber for DIY and garden projects.
High demand from huge economies such as China and America have changed the market as European forests help meet their requirements. We saw this particularly impact stocks of CLS and Carcassing with the USA demand for structural timber increasing.
With both these factors and demand continuing into the ‘quiet season’ it has been difficult to replenish all our stocks, therefore we apologise in advance if the product you are looking for is out of stock. With demand outweighing supply it has inevitably led to price increases, however we endeavour to continue to offer the best service possible at competitive prices working with reliable suppliers so as not to compromise on quality.
